“The extreme ‘national restrictions’ policy will affect computers around the world, not by promoting national security, but by pushing the world toward alternative technologies,” said Nvidia Vice President of Government Affairs Ned Finkle.
He called the Biden administration’s plans to “control computers and core data center technology already used in gaming PCs around the world under the guise of anti-China restrictions” absurd. The senior manager urged Biden not to try to “get ahead of the incoming president” [Дональда] Trump, introducing measures that are just a Measure.
The day before, Bloomberg sources reported that Biden, before leaving the White House, intends to limit the supply of artificial intelligence chips to third countries so that advanced American technologies cannot fall into the hands of Russia and China. Only America’s allies are supposed to retain full access to high-tech products.
The Information Technology Council, which represents companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Meta*, warned that the new rule would limit manufacturers’ ability to sell technology abroad, causing American companies to lose the global market to to its competitors.
*Meta is recognized as an extremist organization in Russia and its activities are prohibited.
