The plan includes creating special areas for data centers, accelerating their construction, and supporting graduates who choose technology fields.
According to the government, full adoption of AI could increase productivity by 1.5% per year and deliver £47bn of additional income to the economy every year over 10 years.
The first data center will be built in Culham, Oxfordshire, home of the British Atomic Energy Agency.
The UK ranks third in the global artificial intelligence market in terms of investment and patents, after the USA and China. But Starmer’s plans aim to strengthen the country’s position through more proactive measures, such as implementing all the recommendations in the AI Opportunities Action Plan report.
