The most obvious change is Using colors to indicate load status followed by percentage so you know about autonomy. Windows 11 will show the color depending on the situation:

  • Black battery: Used when the battery is in good condition and not loaded
  • Green battery: Reserved for when the battery is loaded, and has reached the good state level
  • Yellow battery: Designed for those who use their computer in power saving mode, which is automatically activated when the battery percentage is less than 20%

If your battery is about to run out, the icon will change red and the system will warn that its condition is critical, prompting you to connect it to electrical current.

Windows 11 is inspired by mobile phones with new battery icons.

The new iconography is based on the color codes we find in mobile phones such as the iPhone. While this may seem pointless to some, the truth is that a portable PC user has always depended on the percentage to know the health of their battery and make adjustments.

The colors will be available by moving the cursor over the battery icon in the system tray. If you want to configure the energy saving configuration or activate the percentage indicator, you can do so directly from Configuration > System > Battery and EnergyField
