Of the 36 accidents that occurred during the experiment, 26 occurred when the unmanned system controlled the car and the test drivers intervened in the driving process only if necessary. The other 10 accidents occurred when the car was under the direct control of a person.

The cause of two incidents were software errors of unmanned systems. In other cases, the accident occurred due to the failure of other road users, approved in a letter.

The experimental legal regime (EPR) to test unmanned vehicles operated from April 2022 to November 2024. During this time, experimental taxis completed more than 92 thousand trips, of which around 70 thousand were in the territory of Sirius, another 20 thousand in Innopolis and around 2,000, to the district of Yasenevo in Moscow, the letter of the head of the Ministry of Economic Development says.

The Government decided to extend the experiment until 2028 after the meeting, attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Industry, Yandex and the digital economy.

The fact that of 36 accidents were caused by the errors of the unmanned systems, says the high security indicators, said the vice president of the National Auto Union Anton Shaparin. In his opinion, the extension of the experiment is a safe step, since it will give more time to further improve technologies.
