“The task in any way to encourage or stimulate the return of foreign brands is not relevant. The foreign brands that remain in Russia continue, and the released niches will continue to be replaced by the brands of Russian manufacturers, ”said the department.
The advantage is given to the trend supported by the State for the development of Russian brands, this is also facilitated by the bill “on the Russian or Russian regiment”, added to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. In addition, the business that had gone in 2022-2023 often behaved unfairly, violating the conditions to rent the area of shopping centers, which led to a decrease in the occupation of the mall, the ministry said.
However, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce with the help of stimulating measures managed to return the traffic of shopping centers at 2022, when foreign brands were completely present in the Russian market, writes Tass.
“But most importantly, we see that our Russian business could not only complete vacant areas in the mall in a very short time, but also make a complete brand change and adapt the concept of our business models. It is the Russian brands that dominate the main shopping centers throughout the country, ”summarized the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
- Previously, the Union of Shopping Centers (STC) offered to return to Russia Uniqlo, H&M and Inditex (Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and other brands) that left the Russian market in 2022. The union indicated that they were ready to promote a dialogue, Solve logistics problems and maintain “reimbursement without obstacles” of foreign companies in the Russian market.
- Before this, STC was informed that Inditex was negotiating in private to return to Russia. According to the association, the “defrost” period should be for this, when relations between Russia and Western countries will apply to mitigate sanctions.
