Researchers from MIPT, Kurchatov Institute, the University of Sechenov and RAS developed a new generation of antibiotics that could combat meticilin -resistant Golden Staphylococcus (MRSA). This bacteria is one of the main causes of nozochomial infections, which become increasingly difficult due to increased resistance to medications. Scientists say that the new antibiotic has a unique mechanism of action that allows you to overcome bacterial resistance.
The development was carried out for two years and during the study, researchers synthesized a library of 22 formations. The leader was BX-SI043-A of MRSA’s high activity against many clinical isolators. According to the authors of the study, the drug not only suppresses bacteria effectively, but also shows low toxicity for animals and humans, which makes it a promising candidate for further tests.
Scientists are sure that triazenoindols containing a new antibiotic can form the basis of the development of effective drugs against gram -positive bacteria.
