Physicists from NSU, named after Lobachevsky, presented a new type of cube that will become the basis of the development of quantum technologies in microelectronics and spintronics. These cubes, which are created on the basis of artificial atoms, can effectively process and encode quantum knowledge. As stated in the press service of the university, this is an important step towards the semiconductive platform of quantum calculations. Development was supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The feature of the new technology is the ability to control Cubit’s two basic parameters: load and spin (rotation moment). This approach provides more stability and controllability of quantum devices. The study revealed the unique effect of the spin memory that allowed to fix the cube at a certain energy level using an electric field. This opens expectations to create energy -dependent quantum elements, which are especially important for the development of fully covered quantum computers.

The system is based on a gallium lion with a popular semiconductor material with the features examined. In the future, scientists plan to optimize processes in hybrid cubes, improve the methods of correcting quantum errors, and continue to study spin memory. These steps will help the creation of scalable quantum processors and make quantum calculations more affordable and reliable.
