Between April 2024 and April 2025, the study infiltrated 19 billion passwords. The base took into account only public information.
- According to another conclusion of researchers, most people use passwords between 8 to 10 characters (42% of the analyzed passwords were);
- Approximately 27% of the passwords use only lowercase or numbers;
- “1234” numerical series is almost 4% of the analyzed passwords, ie more than 727 million;
- Portuguese passwords or “password” and “123456” are the most popular.

How to create a safe password?
CyberNews gave some clues to create your passwords and handle it safely:
- Use 1Password, Google Password Manager, LastPass or other password managers;
- Do not reuse passwords for various different services and accounts. Create a unique password for each input;
- Use at least 12 characters in your password when the service allows;
- The ideal password, capital letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and at least a special symbol, all together and mixed;
- Do not use words, names, terms or arrays that can be recognized;
- Enable authentication in two factors in all possible services.
