The so -called technology, called spatial speech translation, uses binural headphones that mimic the natural perception of the sound of human ears. The microphones in the headphones catch the sounds and share them, determine the location of the speakers and translate the conversation by protecting the intonations. For example, if someone speaks Spanish on the left, you will hear a translation from the same side as the sound of the original speaker. The test was performed in Spanish, German and French under various conditions, with a delay in a 2-4-second translation.
All operations occur locally on the device without sending data to the cloud. The M2 chip allows the rapid processing of complex algorithms. The team is trying to reduce the delay for more natural communication to less than a second.
