FAS recognized Apple for violating Russia’s antitrust laws. According to the agency, the US company has abused its dominant position in the iOS application distribution market.

FAS recognized Apple as a violator of the legislation of the Russian Federation due to payment methods outside the App Store

"Apple prohibits iOS app developers from informing customers within the app about the ability to pay for purchases outside of the App Store, as well as the use of alternative payment methods," the service said.

The violation will result in a negotiable fine for Apple. Its size will be determined in the course of an administrative investigation.

In the basic scenario, the company faces a fine of 1% to 15% of its revenue in the Russian market.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service required Apple until September 30, 2021 to lift the ban on developers informing customers within their applications about the possibility of paying for purchases outside the App Store. The corporation did not meet this requirement. In October, the Antitrust Service opened a case against the company.
