A project called Bio! LIB was created by scientists from Graets University under the leadership of Florian Fayst. They used a thin steel sheet with wooden filler instead of aluminum. This design, as it occurs, protects the battery better in collisions – the wooden cells in it are straightened and absorb the energy of the impact.
In order to protect against fire, developers added a mushroom – natural material at high temperatures and a mushroom that reduces thermal conductivity. In the tests, the fire in the casing battery was based on a temperature of more than 1,300 degrees Celsius and was 100 degrees “cool ın from the outside of Tesla’s aluminum analogue.
In addition, such a case revealed less damage to the environment – less energy and water is spent in production and less pollution is created.
