Unlike traditional computers, brain information processes differently – neurons respond to many analog signals and store data at the same time. Modern artificial intelligence systems require great information processing sources, so scientists seek ways to reproduce the principles of brain function in artificial neural.

Tenorite crystals change their electrical activities depending on the frequency of laser radiation. The more often they move, the stronger the answer. This behavior is similar to the reaction of biological synapses to neurotransmitters. During the experiments, the researchers used crystals to teach recognizing a nervous network of manuscripts. After three trials, accuracy reached 95%, which is a high indicator for such technologies.

It is important that artificial synapses maintain stability even after 13 thousand laser irradiation cycle. This makes them a promising material to create stable and energy efficient neurosystems.
