Scientists call the main reason to reduce water to global warming. In recent years, the Caspian Sea level has dropped 6-30 cm per year. In the northern part, where the depth is only five meters, even a small decline leads to a major loss of space. With an optimistic scenario, water can be more than 112,000 km² and can drop 10 meters.
Environmental results will be disaster: up to 40% of unique ecosystems, and the Caspian seal may lose 81% of reproduction. Fish will be released without significant lack of ovulation, including myrtle fish. Like the Arsky Sea, a naked base can be a source of toxic dust with a threat to human health.
The countries surrounding the Caspian are trying to adapt, to create new channels and to preserve ecosystems. However, the speed of changes is in front of the protection measures.
