MTS is complicating the program to decommission the 3G network and transfer frequencies to LTE.

In the third quarter of 2025, the operator completed the operation of ventilation networks in nine more standards in eight cities in the Russian region: Adygea, Kaliningrad, Samara, Chelyabinsk and Yaroslavl regions, as well as in Krasnodar, Primorsky and Khabarovsk Territories.

Under the 2025 plan, MTS intends to decommission half of the remaining 3G baseline research in the country. At the moment already about 20% offanother 30% will stop working by the end of the year.

The transition from UMTS to LTE increases the speed of local Internet by 20–25% and expands subscriber access to modern digital services, voice transmission using VoLTE technology. For clients, the process goes unnoticed: the share of devices that support only 3G is minimal, the operator helps. equipment renewal through subsidies.

In July–September 2025, MTS turned off 3G in Maykop, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Asha, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Artem, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Chernyakhovsk, Chapaevsk and Kinel.

In the first half of the year, the operator completed transfers in 12 cities.
