Nike has unveiled Project Amplify, the world’s first power-powered running and walking shoe.

The design consists of a running shoe with a motorized mechanism that slightly lifts the heel during a stride, propelling the foot forward. This mechanism is powered by a battery in the calf cuff. The battery is charged via USB-C.

With Project Amplify, you can walk and build longer with less fatigue. The shoes are designed for amateur athletes who run at a pace of 6.2–7.5 min/km.

Sneakers have been in development for several years now. During the entire testing period, 400 athletes covered over 2.4 million steps. For some people, Project Amplify can reduce their mile time from 12 minutes to 10 minutes.

For now they are at the testing stage. The company plans to launch mass production “in recent years.”
