Three months after the unofficial record of 42 kW/kg by YASA (since 2021 owned by Mercedes-Benz – editor’s note Techkult), an even lighter and noticeably more powerful version with an electric motor was presented.
The new prototype weighs 12.7 kg and has a maximum power of 750 kW (1006 hp), which is 59 kW/kg – 40% higher than last year’s record. According to YASA technology director Tim Woolmer, this is not a concept: the engine runs only on dynamometer sterile processes.
The unprecedented production prototype is designed for 350–400 kW (469–536 hp), which is 27.6 kW/kg.
Krokov removes the engine from the company and does not open it. The architecture is not mass-produced and does not require exotic materials for the future Mercedes‑AMG hypercar. Focus on the high-performance car segment: Vulmer calls for “breakthrough technologies” for sports cars.
