The attack was part of a larger security breach that led to a “security breach” in 2020. During the hearing, however, Nadler admitted that the committee only became aware of the “amazing breadth and extent” of the hack in March of this year.
Assistant Homeland Security Attorney General Matthew Olsen testified at the hearing and said his department is “working very closely with the Judicial Conference and judges across the country to resolve this issue.”
The information about the theft is still kept secret – Senator Ron Wyden even sent a letter to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, expressing concern that “the federal judiciary is still not making public what happened and has rejected numerous requests to provide non-confidential information to Congress”.
