So many problems that appeared in the second half of the Apple firmware beta cycle, I don’t remember even in iOS 15 last summer. But he called it a beta version of buggy over the past 10 years of the development of Apple’s mobile operating systems …

A well-known version fact: You shouldn’t put the beta version of iOS on your devices. This is the prerogative of those who are not afraid of bugs, applications or write about new system features. We from the editorial office are unfortunate, therefore, we either do not want the beta to be installed in the very first minutes to download and install.

So all week after the release of Beta 4, I fought with my own iPhone in choosing it to work properly. At the same time, I kept a note (until it also started to crash) with the bugs that we saw in this version first.

I emphasize that almost everything from the list below missing in previous iOS 16 betas.

Stability:

▪ built-in apps crash on their own
▪ any application may crash when taking a screenshot
▪ monitoring system for “respring” even when idle
▪ Connecting AirPods may cause iPhone to restart

Response:

▪ the screen may not be displayed, it is generally recommended to unlock
▪ the system as a whole may randomly stop responding to proximity
▪ the screen may not respond to touch for 5 seconds after unlocking
▪ Unlocking by Face ID can take 5-7 seconds, while this screen does not lock back

Sound and Music App:

▪ Bluetooth sound sometimes stutters for half a second
▪ volume slider in Control point (blind) lags
▪ application Music constantly crashes when changing the track or just works with the media library (it used to be, now it’s worse)

Heat:

▪ overheating iPhone heats up when charging by itself
▪ processor with no apparent cause of inflammation (there was, but not so often)
▪ regardless of the situation, throttling may start and the screen will dim (the indicator of this state on all iOS devices) – for example, when editing a photo in the application A photo

Miscellaneous:

▪ Missing in Spotlight search Siri Suggestions

▪ Apps hardly stay in RAM
▪ edited photos in A photo do not save changes
▪ Battery life is generally known in beta, but in beta 4 it’s lower than in beta 1 – even moderately.

This is not all, but the picture, I think, is clear.

Usually, the stability chain of an iOS beta is almost a straight line from the most buggy version (1 or 2) to moderately stable (4-5). But with iOS 16 Beta 4, I personally got it on all devices downgrade to a stable level belowthan the first beta. I don’t remember this in recent years.

Apple in this version is testing new, something completely new in the system, and these are probably massive bugs that have not been seen before. Maybe this is all due to the advent of the Always-On-Display mode for the iPhone 14 Pro, which due to the detection of glitches, the OS often included even some on the iPhone 12 Pro.

On Russian-language forums, they say that on regular iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, this firmware works stably on beta version 3. Complaints of my nature are mainly written by users of Pro-iPhones. But the fact remains: if you haven’t updated from Beta 3 yet, I really hope wait for Beta 5 or even Beta 6. And if you only plan to introduce iOS 16, then it’s better temporarily.

The moral hasn’t changed either. Never install beta firmware on your main desired device.
