Russian scientist from Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov Leonid Zotov believes that the acceleration of the Earth’s rotation is the result of fluctuations that can be caused by terrestrial tides.
A standard Earth day is 24 hours or 86400 seconds. However, every day is not shortening, but if the trend of accelerating the Earth’s rotation continues, then the universal way of measuring time on Earth – atomic time – may need to be changed.
