The head of the Ministry of Economic Development, Maxim Reshetnikov, spoke about the likely increase in the unemployment rate in Russia at a meeting with the governors.

According to Reshetnikov, the unemployment rate will move away from record lows in the fall. According to the results of the last two months, it is 3.9%. The official described the unemployment situation under control and urged not to dramatize it.

Reshetnikov recalled the state support provided to companies to preserve and maintain jobs.

In June, it was reported that the number of officially registered unemployed in Russia increased. In the period from May 23 to 30 there were 11,500 more people. The number of idle or part-time workers has also increased.

By the end of 2022, unemployment in Russia may rise to the level of 2009 and reach 7.5%, said Mikhail Zhukov, director of HeadHunter.
