Posting a video of his project on YouTube, Peng said he wanted to “give snakes their legs”. About 150 million years ago, these reptiles had legs, but they disappeared in the course of evolution.
The engineer made a frame for snakes from a plastic tube and four robot legs modeled after a lizard. Each leg is 3D printed and at the center of it all are two servo motors. Peng tested the prototype first on a toy snake, then on a real snake.
