Apple has applied for a Bluetooth SIG database that likely mentions the new AirPods Pro, according to MacRumors.

The company offers a new gadget “host subsystem 5.3” The specifications require Bluetooth 5.3. But in fact it is Bluetooth 5.2, it’s just that in the applications a Bluetooth version higher than the device is ultimately supported is always available.

The publication believes that in this way Apple masked the 2nd generation AirPods specification. If the headphones receive Bluetooth 5.2, then they will also comply with the LE Audio standard, especially for wireless headphones.

LE Audio includes the LC3 codec, which delivers sound quality at this power consumption. LE Audio also allows you to connect two pairs of headphones to one smartphone.

In January, the Bluetooth SIG reported that the first LE Audio headphones were expected by the end of 2022. Apple may release new AirPods Pro this fall. In addition, the company had to update the firmware of the Beats Studio Buds and add LE Audio, since these headphones have already introduced Bluetooth 5.2.
