Lotus working on a new electric sports car. Is called Type 133 and will ideally be placed in the same segment as the Porsche Taycan. The debut is planned for 2023.

Lotus recently unveiled the Eletre, an all-electric performance SUV. Gavan Kershawdirector of the British brand, explained to Autocar that the development of the SUV was fundamental to refine the company’s know-how in the production of electric vehicles and in particular to take advantage of the strengths of the new floor, theElectric premium platform

The new vehicle, a four-door coupe, will be produced in China alongside the Eletre SUV Despite the shared platform, Lotus has promised that the two cars will have two unique and unmistakable characters. In short, it will not be a simple re-proposition, in a coupé key, of the performance SUV.

The Type 133 will also be a car aimed at the top performance, with a maniacal track in terms of aerodynamics. “Our signature car – a car that makes you want to drive and has a winning look – requires a lot of technology,” Kershaw continues.

Few details are yet, although we know it will likely use the same 612 HP twin electric motor seen on the Eletre. The challenge therefore lies with the Taycan GTS, the sportiest version of the electric Porsche.
