Artemis mission leader Mike Sarafin told reporters at a press conference earlier today that the latest leak that hindered the take-off of the Space Launch System rocket was more severe than what occurred during the first launch attempt on Monday.
Three different attempts were made against yesterday’s leak. However, none of them worked.
The next attempt to launch SLS could take place between October 17th and 31st. “We don’t launch rockets until we think it’s right.”NASA administrator Bill Nelson said during the recent briefing.
Agency representatives added that delays in the launch of SLS will not affect the Artemis program as a whole. Nelson said they are focused on launching Artemis 2 (crewed around the Moon) in 2024 and Artemis 3 (crewed moon landing) in 2025.
