He said that when he got to this position, Twitter infrastructure did not even have basic security measures and almost every employee had easy access to the data. Zatko stressed that “an employee at Twitter could take control of the accounts of all senators present at these hearings.”

The most dramatic moment for Twitter was when Zatko disclosed that a member of the foreign intelligence services had hacked into the system, but which were not reported.

The former employee of the social network ended his speech with a metaphor: “It doesn’t matter who has the keys when there are no locks on your doors.”

Recall, Twitter tried to negotiate $7 million in impeachment compensation with Zatko in exchange for his silence in the Senate.
