Ozon has paid compensation to 25,000 businessmen for burned goods in a New Riga warehouse. This is 70% of the total number of sellers whose products were stored in burned blocks, a market representative told RB.RU.

The company is awaiting information on the remaining 30% of the victims.

In September, Ozon made 4 installments of payments, the last one was made on September 30. The exact amount of compensation was not disclosed.

“There are businessmen who have not yet confirmed the amount of the payment to Ozon; many of them are waiting for the end of inventory to immediately receive payment for all the goods that were stored in the warehouse. 6,000 businessmen had all their assets in a block that was not affected by the fire,” the company said in a statement.

Now the site continues to inventory the assets of the block that was not damaged by the fire. Some of Ozon’s products are already back on sale. The inventory will be completed in October. For items that cannot be returned for sale, Ozon will compensate sellers.

  • The Ozon warehouse in New Riga in the Moscow region caught fire on August 3, the building almost completely burned down: the fire area was 55 thousand square meters, part of the roof collapsed.
  • At the end of August, the market uploaded a report to the sellers’ personal accounts with all the positions that were in the burned warehouse and indicated how to obtain compensation.
  • In mid-September, Ozon agreed with the New Technology Company to lease 80,000 m2. m in Zhukovsky near Moscow – the market needs these areas as a replacement for the warehouse that burned down in August in Novaya Riga.
