After months of rumors and several leaks, the long-awaited RTX 4090 tomorrow, Wednesday (12) is coming to the global market, but today expert critics have started to publish their first analysis of this plate, and there is a strong consensus among almost all tech gadgets: The RTX 4090 is a standout in hardware form.

large size

The RTX 3090 was already a massive graphics card, but its successor takes it to the next level. Most reviews used the NVIDIA-exclusive Founder’s Edition to perform the analysis. In retrospect, the launch appears to be only 10mm shorter than the 3090, but the width is wider, At least 3 slots to fit in the case.

Information from The Verge indicates that the model has a slightly different cooling structure with 7 bladed fans, not 9 like the previous generation. In practice, TechPowerUp’s tests show that the GPU stays at an average of 37ºC when the fans are stopped, i.e. idle, i.e. at the desktop, or performing very simple tasks; during the game, maximum peak 74ºC and average 66ºC, fans were at 1449 RPM.

Energy and consumption

Since the RTX 4090 was announced, it has scared everyone with its 450W consumption. The card has only one connector. PCIe Gen 5.0 standard, however, most sources don’t have this format yet, so NVIDIA ships an adapter that converts a single PCIe 5.0 connection to three or four 8-pin 4.0 connections.

“You’ll probably want to have a 1000W power supply on hand for the RTX 4090, especially since you’ll need to plug it in with the latest generation of processors to really take advantage of the power offered here,” says the journalist. Tom Warren of The Verge.

Performance at 1440p

While the RTX 4090 wasn’t meant to run games at 1440p, also known as Quad HD, a few tests wanted to see how far this card could go at a slightly lower resolution. The result is remarkable when compared to the RTX 3090. By the way, it is worth noting that the main vehicles use similar benches. Intel Core i9-12900K processor and more than 16GB of RAM.

Games like Forza Horizon 5, Control and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla show a very interesting evolution from 60 frames to 70 frames. approximately 50% of gross earnings.

4K turned into a walk in the park

In tests performed by Tom’s Hardware, benchmarks were 78% gain in games using ray tracing technology. “Even without DLSS, the RTX 4090 can deliver near native 4K with 60 frames or more of ray tracing. […] It averages over 100 frames in DLSS 2 quality mode”.

The review makes a very important statement by categorically saying “RTX 4090 makes 4K Ultra the new 1080p Ultra”. Tom Warren says something similar in his text and says that the card marks a new era for PC Gamers.

DLSS 3.0 is another level

With the arrival of the RTX 4090, NVIDIA begins implementing DLSS 3.0 only in the Ada Lovelace generation. The technology manages to provide an intermediate frame in image reconstruction and is only available in a few titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Digital Casting/Reproduction

The result in Cyberpunk 2077 in performance mode is absolutely impressive. Digital Foundry has done in-depth testing to gauge the technology’s gains, and the jump from DLSS 2.0 to 3.0 is about 45% on average.

Worth it?

When it comes to all this information, will it be the RTX 4090? According to reviews, if you have enough money, a huge case, a 1,000W power supply, and you want the best in the business, the answer seems to be yes. However, for the home consumer, it may make more sense to wait for the RTX 4080 or even invest in the current RTX 30xx, which should be on the market for a while.

The suggested price of the RTX 4090 in Brazil is R$14,999 and sales started by Kabum! tomorrow.
