Specialists from Positive Technologies reported a record increase in the number of posts on Telegram on cybercrime topics. In the second quarter of 2022, 27,000 were discovered, 2.5 times more than in the previous year’s quarter.

Half (52%) of the messages reviewed by analysts are related to user data, trading and fraudulent transactions. One in three posts (29%) offer cybercriminal services, every seventh post (15%) talks about malware distribution, Positive Technologies said.

If we talk about cybercriminal services, the majority (66%) of the messages on this topic are discussions about the withdrawal of money, including the withdrawal of cryptocurrencies. In second place in popularity with a 16% share are DDoS attacks, in third place is the offer of services for hacking resources, for example, stealing accounts.

According to Positive Technologies, the number of cybercriminals on Telegram started to grow significantly in 2020. In 2021, user activity on thematic channels increased by 3.5 times.
