The recommendations were made by dermatologist and associate professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Shared by Vicky Zhen Ren. Here they are:
-
Use ointment or cream, not lotion. Apply creams after a shower or bath to retain moisture.
-
Use lukewarm water instead of hot water in the shower or bath. Limit their intake to five to ten minutes.
-
Install a humidifier in your home.
-
Wear clothes that protect your skin from wind and cold.
-
Creams containing urea, lactic acid, ammonium lactate, or alpha hydroxy acid may be beneficial for thick or flaky skin. However, they can also cause irritation.
