The global culinary platform Cookpad will remove all recipes in Russian

“Until the last moment, we lived in full confidence that Cookpad would not leave Russia. <…>. Recently, the foreign office of Cookpad Inc. has made the difficult decision to close Cookpad in Russia as of January 31. The reasons for this decision are not specified.

It is noted that from January 31, “all Russian recipes on Cookpad will cease to be available, no one will be able to enter the site or application.”

The Russian Cookpad team also announced that it has created new groups on social networks where users can communicate, post recipes and participate in contests – “Easy Recipes”. Cookpad emphasized that this is a “temporary solution to maintain a point of attraction”.

  • Cookpad appeared in Japan in 1997, and currently, according to its own data, the project has more than 80 million users around the world. Cookpad supports the app and website in 23 languages.
  • In Russia, the platform went live on January 26, 2018. The Russian Cookpad is an old Ovkuse.ru website created in 2007.
