Owners of electric vehicles must drive free of charge on toll roads in Russia from March 1, Kommersant writes. The experiment will last until the end of the year.

For free travel, you can purchase or rent a transponder at the Avtodor-Toll Roads office. Documents (STS or PTS) are also required, confirming that the car is equipped with an electric motor.

With the recommended use on another car with a personal account allocated to the transponder, with a record of the full fare, and the transponder itself is disconnected from the promotion without the possibility of participating in it.

If the experiment is recognized as successful, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance will prepare amendments to the Law on Highways, allowing free travel by electric vehicles on all toll roads. [Коммерсантъ]
