In the first quarter of 2023, online food sales in Russia will grow by 4%. However, this is still below the level of the previous quarter of 182 billion rubles.
The first place in food sales in 2022 was Sbermarket with a turnover of 103.5 billion rubles, the second place was Vkusvill with 91.2 billion rubles, the third was Samokat with 82.5 billion rubles reported Kommersant.
According to Mikhail Burmistrov, General Director of Infoline-Analytics, the quarter-on-quarter dynamics will be affected by a slowdown in food inflation relative to the high base of March last year, an unstable situation with income, a decrease in the number of customers of the delivery service, as well as an increase in the number of consumers who save on food products.
Market growth in the fourth quarter was influenced by a massive increase in marketing spend and an increase in promotion share among the largest players.
Russians began to spend 12% less on products and services, according to data from the tax data operator “First OFD”. Spending on electronics, children’s products, furniture, and tobacco products decreased significantly.
Experts attribute the decline in spending by Russians to a return to the pattern of savings behavior that began in 2022. In February, Russian residents’ spending will rise, but one can only talk about the restoration of consumer activity according to the data from the first quarter of this year, experts explain.
