At the fair, Huawei distributed special security cards to the participants. They were necessary for access to the company’s booth. Some visitors did not return these badges and later discovered that they contained suspicious-looking devices such as trackers.
Huawei denied the allegations and a company spokesperson said, “The Huawei pass is only used at the booth and is returned when visitors leave. No need for location tracking.” On the badge, there is indeed a sensor to collect information about the owner’s time spent in Huawei’s exhibition space, according to the company’s assurances. This information will be used to analyze the general interest of the guests in their products, supposedly to improve the quality of service. Huawei added that it will protect the collected information in accordance with its privacy policy.
