An emergency update for Google Chrome became available this Tuesday (18). Users need to update due to a serious zero-day error found in the browser.

The security issue, identified as CVE-2023-2136, involves an integrity breach in Skia, the open-source 2D graphics library available in Chrome. Thus, attackers can perform a sandbox breakout using HTML pages.

users WindowsLinux and macOS should update the browser to version 112.0.5615.137. Those who use Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi, all of which are based on Chromium, should also apply the patch.

The issue was discovered by Clément Lecigne of Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG). He reported the malfunction on April 12.

It is notable that this is the second zero-day vulnerability in Chrome that has been exploited by hackers. A similar situation happened last week and was fixed by Google. What is not yet known is whether there is a connection between the problems.

Google claimed to be aware of the new flaw, but declined to elaborate on the issue. The new Google Chrome update also fixes seven other browser vulnerabilities.
