The CEO of IBM announced the suspension of the hiring of employees who can be replaced by AI

The head of the international corporation IBM said that the company will stop recruiting employees who can be replaced by artificial intelligence in the future.

According to Arvind Krishna, around 7,800 employees working at IBM will be able to replace AI in a five-year horizon. In total, the corporation employs about 26,000 people whose functions do not include communication with customers; most of them can be replaced by AI, Krishna believes.

At the same time, the IBM CEO is confident that it will be difficult to replace AI in the near future with some special skills, such as HR employees evaluating the workforce and productivity.

In total, according to Bloomberg, about 260 thousand people work at IBM. At the beginning of the year, the corporation announced that it would cut 1.5% of the state – about 5 thousand employees.
