Scientists from the Institute for Monitoring Climatic and Ecological Systems of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a complex that allows the use of acoustics to scare birds at the Tomsk airport.

The collision of the aircraft with the birds is one of the most relevant for aviation. They occur with varying frequency throughout the year – more often from May to September, less often in winter.

The machine vision system using artificial intelligence was trained on a specially created database of bird images. The neural network automatically processes the video surveillance data and takes the necessary actions to scare a certain type of action.

The researchers plan to test their installation in practice at the Tomsk airport. The press service of the administration of the Tomsk region underlines the interest of other airports.
