From April 29 to May 9, 1.85 million guests came to Moscow. The flow of tourists to the capital for the May festivities increased by 16.6% compared to last year.

Almost 2 million tourists visited Moscow for the May holidays

This was said by the mayor of the city, Sergei Sobyanin. It should be noted that in 2022 the tourist flow to Moscow increased to 17.9 million people, which is 6% more than a year earlier.

“According to the first data, in 2023 [туристический сезон] it also promises to be quite successful”, believes the mayor.

Two thirds of the hotels in the capital were filled (67-70%). The load in three-star hotels was 85%, in the categories “4 and 5 stars” – 57-60%.

The total turnover of the tourism industry for the May holidays this year amounted to 61 billion rubles, 12% more than in 2022. At the same time, 8.4 billion rubles went to the Moscow budget. The mayor has indicated that with these funds “it is possible to build two or three new schools.”
