The Central Bank of Russia called for greater accountability for illegal investment tips, including bloggers and Telegram channels. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the head of the service for consumer protection and guarantee of the availability of financial services, member of the board of directors of the Central Bank Mikhail Mamuta on the sidelines of the International Legal Forum in St. Petersburg.
According to him, there are complaints: citizens, following such advice, often from anonymous financial gurus, face financial losses and fraud.
Mikhail Mamuta emphasized that responsibility is needed for illegal investment advice, since its consequences are close to the abuse of the right. He added that there are enough problems in this area that require systemic solutions. It is now being discussed with the relevant departments.
The specialist also pointed out that the regulator is sure that the control of the institute of investment advisors should be improved. In addition, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation supports a bill that would prohibit collecting money from citizens in companies that are not under the supervision of the regulator. In addition, constant educational work is needed in the field of investment literacy, concluded Mikhail Mamuta.
