Procrastination, in essence, is the inability to control one’s moods and emotions. The amygdala is responsible for the reaction associated with procrastination. At the same time, people who see themselves as chronic procrastinators have more gray matter in their amygdala. This means that they are more susceptible to the possible negative consequences of their actions. This will lead to more negative emotions and more procrastination.

Another factor associated with procrastination is timing. In other words, how close you see your present self to your future self. And for less procrastination, it’s helpful to imagine yourself in the future as often as possible.

It is known that people who procrastinate more experience more stress and experience more serious health problems. These people are more likely to experience headaches, insomnia or digestive problems and are more susceptible to colds and flu. Finally, procrastination can contribute to the development of heart disease and high blood pressure.

One way to stop procrastination is to cut down on time. For example, two days should be shown as 48 hours, 30 years as 10,950 days. This will bring things closer to the present moment.

Also, there are two main ways to reduce procrastination. It is self-compassion and cognitive rethinking. So, you don’t need to be too strict with yourself. Exercises aimed at paying attention to the present moment (the body’s sensations at that moment, including breathing) can help with this.
