This is exactly what Vladimir Ulyanov, head of the Zecurion think tank, has recently done. He told how to protect yourself from scammers in the popular Telegram messenger.
According to Ulyanov, attackers began to actively use fake pages and advertising channels on the messenger to collect users’ personal data.
“Criminals gather an audience, often through advertising channels, to fool people later on. Therefore, be careful about the source of the links you receive,” warned the expert.
Ulyanov strongly recommended that you look for information in Telegram only on official channels. He also pointed out the danger that links from fake sources could lead to the spread of harmful information.
If you need to go to a specific Telegram channel, it is best to search for it directly in the messenger by name. “The most popular and needed channels are usually at the top of the search list,” the expert said.
He called the number of channel subscribers no less important: fake channels, as a rule, have fewer subscribers than official channels.
