One UI 6 seems to have abandoned a native feature to prevent burn-in. Galax S23 mobile phone owners have noticed that the Status Bar icons no longer move to avoid damaging the screen.

Users of the Galaxy S23 Ultra with One UI 6 on Reddit noticed that their Status Bar icons always line up perfectly, meaning they never change position. Small adjustments are important to ensure that pixels are not constantly exposed to the same content and thus cause screen burn-in.

PSA: One UI 6 has no burn-in protection for the status bar!

In One UI 5, the system made minor adjustments to the position of the Status Bar icons to prevent screen burn-in. Therefore, combustion had a lower chance of occurring, or at least took longer to occur.

Fortunately, the Navigation Bar icons can still be adjusted occasionally to prevent the screen from crashing. It’s possible that Samsung has only changed the function in screenshots, developed another method to avoid burn-in, or simply hasn’t implemented the feature on the new system.

Follow upcoming updates

If the lack of movement in the Status Bar icons is truly a bug or flaw, Samsung needs to fix the problem in future updates. For now we have to wait until an update is released.

One UI 6 is currently available exclusively on Galaxy S23 phones. However, it shouldn’t take too long to reach other devices. The update is also expected to arrive in Brazil later this year.
