It looks like Google’s next foldable phone will be big, literally. According to DSCC’s Ross Young (now of industry analyst heavyweight Countepoint Research), screen size Pixel Fold 2 will be larger than other leaks have suggested.

When the first Pixel Fold 2 leaks surfaced with purported renders, they predicted a 7.9-inch internal foldable display. Young writes in publication on the X (formerly Twitter), the internal flexible panel measures 8.02 inches, which is a significant increase compared to the 7.6-inch OLED panel on Google Pixel Fold first generation.

The main screen was previously reported to be 6.4 inches in size, but Young notes that the actual size is 6.29 inches, which is still a significant jump from the 5.8-inch outer screen in the current version. But this time it’s not just the screen that will undergo a major overhaul.

The appearance is also being revised, for better or worse. The sides have been smoothed out and the overall profile has been redesigned with greater inspiration. OnePlus Open. The bezels have been trimmed down significantly and the two-tone look is much easier on the eyes.

With a slim profile of just 10.54mm, the Pixel Fold 2 is rumored to redefine thinness in the segment. Underneath the body (and that bad camera bump), Google is eyeing a next-gen Tensor G4 chip for a foldable phone.

We currently don’t know anything about the Pixel Fold 2’s camera specs or other details of its internal hardware. However, such a significant revision as predicted by the leaks raises concerns about a sharp rise in prices.

Design renders of the Pixel Fold 2 have appeared online.

But we’re desperate to see more work from Google and app developers. Android,in optimizing applications for large screens. Not only will they look better on a larger screen measuring just 8 inches, but they will also help Android tablets that are desperate for love and attention.

I was recently surprised to see that even Apple has optimized the Apple Music app for foldable phones quite nicely. I won’t say it’s an omen for foldable iPhonebut it doesn’t hurt to see Android apps really show off their responsive UX capabilities on the big screen, like the Pixel Fold 2.
