Previously, In iPadOS 17.5 beta versions, the new Battery Status for iPads was referenced via code. Now Confirmed to have this section enabled on the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air introduced a week ago In the Settings app in the Battery section. This option was first renewed in the iPhone 15. How will it benefit the iPad?

Apple will now inform us about the battery health of iPad Pro and iPad Air

As shown on the iCulture website, you can see the Battery Status menu when you navigate between Settings and Battery. Here you can see the 80% limited capacity, number of cycles and load optimization.. You can also see the origin of the battery in terms of its manufacture and when it was first used.

To maintain the battery, Apple will enable reading of cycle count and prevent over 80% charging. This was exclusive to the iPhone 15 and this exact functionality was not available on the iPhone 14 series and earlier. Curiously, This 80% limit is not linked to optimized battery charging; these are independent functions. Let’s not forget that optimized charging intelligently delays charging when it exceeds 80% until the device learns its daily charging routine.

If the 80% limit is enabled, iPads will not charge or exceed this percentage but may occur in very rare cases only to provide an accurate estimate of the battery’s state of charge.

Apple learned a little late about battery maintenance on its devices

Apple has included regulations regarding daily charging habits to “improve battery life” on its iPhones since iOS 13. Active charging is possible thanks to machine learning on the device itself that knows this routine and kicks in “when the iPhone is expected to remain connected to the charger for an extended period of time.”

To learn from routines, For optimized charging to do its job, iPhone needs at least 14 days and 9 charges of 5 hours or more in a single location. It also requires the activation of some localization issues, especially important positions within localization in general localization, system customization and system services.

Will such improvements extend the life of the iPad? Will we see better battery maintenance on iPhones from now on? We’d love to have something like this since most of the previous generations of the iPhone, where the battery was the worst shortcoming.
