The third reincarnation of minimalism in mobile phones, restoring the most basic and oldest phones and features of modern times, has just been presented at Light Phone IIIsuccessor Light phone 2 which arrived in November 2023.
The device has a 3.92-inch monochrome screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1240, which optimizes image viewing and extends battery life. It should not be considered a smartphone due to its limited functionality. The software includes basic tools such as phone, alarm clock, timer, calculator, calendar, contacts, navigation system, notes, voice recorder, Wi-Fi hotspot support and audio player. It lacks apps like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, games and others.
One of the features of The Light Phone III is that it has a metal body and a larger screen. The back can be removed for easy battery replacement.
Other updated specs include the addition of NFC, GPS, 5G, a fingerprint scanner, eSIM, USB-C, and a 1,800mAh battery. While this battery may not seem like much, it was twice the size of its predecessor and had an estimated battery life of up to three days.
