The new Poco M5 and M5s are even better, but also more expensive

Poco, the Xiaomi brand that offers powerful phones at a good price, now has two new members in its catalog: new Poco M5 and M5s, which arrive not only to update the Poco M4 that the company announced last year, but also to compete with those smartphones that cost less than 400 euros. The new Poco M5s in particular stand out for their great battery life, camera and screen. Also for its price, which starts from 190 euros.

Yes, Xiaomi has retained the essence of its predecessor Poco M4. In fact, the Poco M5 has a very similar design line to last year’s model. It includes huge photomodule located on top, which now has a shiny surface. The Poco M5s has a less pronounced photomodule located on the side, as well as a camera directly on the screen, and not in the cutout, like its older brother.

In terms of specifications, the Poco M5 has Processor MediaTek Helio G99, while the Poco M5s includes the Helio G95 SoC, also from MediaTek. Both smartphones are accompanied by RAM and storage configurations ranging from 4GB and 64GB to 6GB and 128GB of RAM and storage respectively. They both also have battery 5000 mAh and 18W fast charging.

Screen and camera: small but important differences

The Poco M5s, on the other hand, has four lenses on the back. The chamber is essentially A 64MP main sensor that is also capable of recording 4K video at 30fps. Accompanying this camera is a second 13MP ultra wide-angle lens, as well as two additional 2MP macro and depth sensors.

How much do the new Poco M5 and Poco M5s cost?

Both Poco M5 and Poco M5s will be available from next September 12. The Poco M5 is available in black, green and yellow and will be available in 4GB RAM and two storage options: 64GB and 128GB. On the other hand, the Poco M5s can be purchased in Grey, White and Blue and with the same amount of RAM and storage. Prices for different variants start at 190 euros, which is an attractive value given its characteristics, but slightly higher than what the brand was offering a few years ago.
