We can say that Android 13 is designed to consolidate the progress made by its predecessor in both sections. And this is not an unimportant fact, of course. Starting with the new version of the operating system, app icons will be fully integrated into Material You, and the OS also includes a new music player. And users will also be able to set different languages according to each application.
Another notable fact is that Google hasn’t forgotten about RCS, the messaging protocol with which he intends to replace text messaging. Mountain View representatives highlighted this again by including end-to-end encryption in group chats. And they threw a dart at Apple: “We hope all mobile operating systems get the message and upgrade to RCS.”
Android 13 increases privacy
During the Google I/O segment on Android 13. privacy was re-emphasized. As you can see from the first beta version of the operating system, the default software restricts apps from accessing user data. Extended permissions also promise to be a major hurdle to protecting public privacy.
Google also revealed that it will soon change the OS settings to include a unified security and privacy page. This will provide a clear color indicator of your security status, as well as recommendations and steps you can take to improve your security.
Google doesn’t forget tablets
Google has revived interest in tablets with the development of Android 12L, its version of the OS for these devices and other gadgets with a large screen (for example, foldable). android 13 intends to use this experience and deepen it with advanced features. For this reason, they have focused on multitasking features, including a streamlined taskbar that lets you switch between shared view and split screen, for example. On the other hand, it was decided to improve the support for styluses.
But Google knows it’s useless to have tablets or devices with large screens if there aren’t apps optimized for it. The company will soon update about twenty of its own apps to adapt to these gadgets, and they hope to do the same with a wide range of third-party apps.
The second beta version of Android 13 is available from today. Over time, developers will surely discover new features of the operating system. The truth is that those in Mountain View have promised to lend support. Bluetooth Low Energy Audio, HDR spatial audio and video.
