At the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC), Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) released the list of 2023 winning devices. In the spotlight, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro won the “Best Smartphone” award.

With “excellent performance and innovation”, the Apple mobile phone competed in the category with other major launches of 2022. Competitors included the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Apple also won in the “Disruptive Device Innovation” category. Thanks to the satellite communication function of the iPhone 14 line, mobile phones use a technology that makes a distress call in areas where there is no signal, without the need for an extra accessory.

Google Tensor 2 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips also competed in the innovation category. The Sony IMX989 camera sensor, the star of many mid-range and premium devices of 2022, was the fourth competitor.

Motorola’s Defy Satellite device, introduced at MWC 2023, took home the “Best Product of the Event” award. Created in partnership with Bullit, the MediaTek chip gadget uses a bluetooth connection to provide a satellite signal to any iOS and Android mobile phone.

Honor Magic Vs, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Oppo Find N2 Flip smartphones competed in the same category. However, the premium phones failed to catch the attention of the GLOMO judges.

Motorola Defy Satellite was one of the highlights of MWC 2023.

About GLOMO

The GLOMO winners were chosen by a group of analysts, journalists and influencers who visited MWC 2023 in Barcelona, Spain. Then, on the last day of the event, the awards will be delivered at the stands of the brands.

Only the “Best Smartphone” category has a different rule when considering products released between January and December of the previous year. For this reason, highly praised models such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra were not selected.
