ChatGPT continues to expand. After success on desktop and mobile devices, OpenAI’s chatbot is now looking to make its way into the world of mobility. DS Automobiles, a subsidiary of Stellantis, has announced that ChatGPT will be integrated into its vehicles.. In fact, they are the first European manufacturer to adopt this technology.

ChatGPT will be included in the DS IRIS system.as the company’s infotainment system is known. All models from the automaker will board the conversational chatbot train. That is, DS 3, DS 4, DS 7 and DS 9. The idea is that ChatGPT becomes an on-board digital assistant.

It’s important to note that unlike the original ChatGPT, which requires text input to get started, In DS cars, interaction occurs through voice commands.. It will be enough just to say – Okay, Iris. so that the system listens to your requests. If you wish, you can also press a dedicated button on the steering wheel. Thus, the driver will not be distracted while driving.

DS car owners will be able to request any information from ChatGPT or ask it to perform certain tasks.

“Integrated with the DS IRIS system, ChatGPT offers a whole new dimension of interaction… What if you asked what are the most beautiful cultural or artistic places to visit during a trip to Bordeaux, if you make a list of the most beautiful works that have survived in the Louvre, if would you come up with a quiz on your favorite topic or even create a children’s story to entertain them during the trip?”

ChatGPT won’t be free for everyone in DS cars

Now using ChatGPT on board DS cars it won’t be completely free. The chatbot will be available at no additional cost for the first six months if you are among the first 20,000 users to register for the test phase on the Stellantis platform. If you want to try it out, be sure to register through DS IRIS between October 19, 2023 and February 29, 2024. There is currently no information on how much it will cost after the free period ends.

Olivier Francois, director of DS Automobiles, noted that DS’s main goal is to offer its customers a unique on-board experience, which is why they are integrating ChatGPT.

“Even knowing all the inner workings and binary calculations that allow ChatGPT to interact with the user, there is a certain fascination with how this conversational AI model works. Its ability to interact is without a doubt one of the most striking applications of AI in the world. in the world. Last year all over the world. Since ChatGPT became available, we have been working to integrate it into our own systems. And we are delighted to be the first to offer this innovation in Europe.”
