Motherboard manufacturers are tackling AMD’s Windows 10 and 11 stuttering issue with a new BIOS update. (occasional) performance losses and stuttering are mainly due to TPM 2.0 functionality (fTPM).

It wasn’t covered extensively in the news, but manufacturers have released AGESA V2 1207 firmware for a large number of motherboards. While older hardware with A320, B350 or X370 chipsets will especially benefit from support for the latest AMD processors (Zen 3), the “stuttering” issue known since January 2022 has also been resolved.

Example of ‘stuttering’

AMD has confirmed that fTPM-related memory operations on the motherboard’s SP1 flash memory may be causing the issue. Many motherboard manufacturers are fixing the issue with new firmware update. So, check your motherboard manufacturer’s website to see if the update is available. Pay special attention to information such as ‘AGESA V2 1.2.0.7’ or ‘fTPM Stuttering’. On out-of-the-box systems like Lenovo, Acer, and Dell, it helps to check the computer manufacturer’s website to use the update tools.
