The American recording artist and rapper Kanye Westnow known as Ye, has announced plans to buy I will speak, one of the leading social networks of the right in the US. After publishing an extremely anti-Semitic post, Kanye West was recently suspended from Twitter.

Unlike Gab, another social network born as a right-wing alternative to the products of mainstream tech companies, Parler has never winked at the most extreme edges of the American political spectrum. Also founded with the contribution of Mercer (family of Republican Party super donors, formerly financiers of the Breitbart website), Parler has previously tried to become a product of institutional Republican law. The social network houses the accounts of numerous conservative politicians, journalists and commentators.

Parler has been in existence since 2018 and ended up at the center of the cyclone in 2021, after authorities accused the social network of facilitating the organization of the violent protests that led to the attack on the Capitol, the seat of the United States Congress. For this reason, Parler was removed from the Google and Apple app stores (recently, the app was reintroduced).

Before the launch Truth SocialDonald Trump was also courted by Parler’s administrators, who hoped to convince the former US president to open an account after being banned for life from nearly every other social network.

The company that owns Parler has announced that the deal with Kanye West will be finalized by the end of 2022. “In this world conservative ideas are becoming more and more controversial, it is our duty to ensure that we defend the right to express ourselves freely,” he told the rapper.
